The community of Wellston is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Bailey Ousley, 17, who tragically lost his life following a single-vehicle ATV crash in the early morning hours of Friday, June 26, in Jackson County. His sudden passing has left family, friends, classmates, and neighbors devastated as they grieve the loss of a young life filled with promise, dreams, and endless potential.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, troopers from the Jackson Post responded to the crash at approximately 1:27 a.m. on Hiram West Road, just north of State Route 32 in Milton Township. Investigators said Bailey was operating a 2014 Honda Rancher ATV with 18-year-old Gabrielle Myers, also of Wellston, as a passenger. For reasons still under investigation, the ATV traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree.
Emergency responders arrived quickly and provided medical assistance at the scene. Bailey was transported by Jackson County EMS to Holzer Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries. Gabrielle Myers was treated at the scene for minor injuries and did not require further hospitalization. Authorities continue to investigate what caused the ATV to leave the roadway, reviewing possible factors such as speed, road conditions, and mechanical issues.
Bailey is being remembered as a caring son, loyal friend, and bright young man whose kindness and laughter touched many lives. His passing has created an immeasurable void, but the memories he leaves behind will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
